Media and Communication

The Section brings together professors and researchers who study media and contemporary mass communication, applying theories, concepts, and methods from various disciplinary fields.
Studies on media range from the history of cinema, photography, and television to philological, analytical, and theoretical-methodological insights, reaching the observation of the most innovative trends in television, digital media, audiovisual economics and marketing, pop and entertainment cultures.
Studies on communication are marked by the strong interdisciplinarity that has always characterized the Communication Sciences program in Bologna: semiotics, social sciences, psychology, history, law, and geography. Relationships throughout the Section with local, national and international companies, professionals and institutions are frequent.
